A Very Innovative Organism - The Mimic Octopus (Thaumoctopus Mimicu)

I've never seen anything like this before; an organism that can not only camouflage itself like your ordinary octopus but also change its shape too. Found in Indonesia and Malaysia.

The Sounds of Nature

I have a really cool idea and I'm going to put it into motion soon. There's this high quality digital audio recorder that I can use for a few days so I'm going to patiently keep tabs on the weather network, waiting for a thunderstorm or even just a casual rain to start up. When the time is right I'm going to pack a lunch and dress appropriately and trek onto a trail until I find a secluded spot to set up and record an entire rainfall or thunderstorm. I'll post a link to the download once it's done but this may take a while as timing is crucial - I can't exactly skip out on work :)

The Mind Expansion Project

I met a particularly interesting individual named George Schell who has started an interesting deviation called The Mind Expansion Project. George and several of his close friends who (most of them) happen to be musicians have decided to emark on bold entourage to document the many facets of spirituality natural life. George has been a long-time subscriber to the belief that we should hold true to our natrual roots, and that includes making healthy choices in life both emotionally, and nutritionally. George collects his own natural herbs for personal consumption from the local wilderness. The beauties and benefits of living in rural Northern Ontario!

This is a very interesting pilot project that I would like to get involved in and learn of some of the many interesting life experiences of the group. At the present moment The Mind Expansion Project does not have an Internet presence, but I plan on changing that very soon. I will be meeting with George this weekend hopefully to find out more about what The Mind Expansion Project is.

Bye bye, Facebook

I've had enough; not only is the support service absolutely terrible but I could be focusing my energy on other tasks that will actually make me money. I must have gone through all my contacts for a solid week just taking down emails and phone numbers of people I want to keep in touch with before I closed down.

Do I really need someone determining for me who I should and should not add as a friend? I have twelve mutual friends with this person, and I have even worked with him in the past, yet I'm not allowed to add him? And being banned for two days from sending friend requests because it is considered spam? "Engaging in suspicious and/or abusive activity"? Making me obediently check a box that says "Yes, I understand" otherwise my account will be banned? Thanks but no thanks. Bye bye, Facebook!

Poison Dart Frog

As per Wikipedia: Poison dart frog (also dart-poison frog, poison frog or formerly poison arrow frog) is the common name of a group of frogs in the family Dendrobatidae which are native to Central and South America. Unlike most frogs, these species are active during the day and often have brightly-colored bodies. Although all wild dendrobatids are at least somewhat toxic, levels of toxicity vary considerably from one species to the next and from one population to another. Many species are critically endangered. These amphibians are often called "dart frogs" due to the Amerindians' indigenous use of their toxic secretions to poison the tips of blowdarts.

Slick New Website Design!

I've managed to squeeze together a few hours here and there over the past few months and have completely redesigned the new site and it looks a lot cleaner and nicer. I hope that with graduation coming in less than three weeks I'll be able to focus more on well-written articles instead of short sporadic blog posts, and a lot more artwork, particularily more sci-fi and nature themes.

Epically Fat-Saturated Heart-Clogging Overkill Suicide Sensation Pizza!

This...this is one of those pizzas that makes ulcers look like gingerbread cookies. There's one kilogram of cheese on the left hand side. This pizza is so DANGEROUS that it raised the National Security Level!

Finally a Break!

Between working full time night shifts and having college in the mornings I haven't had much time to do anything fun lately! But I did meet a new friend named 454 Horsepower by Kicking Horse Coffee! This stuff is so good I even drink it black! How about that!? I'm about halfway done my network engineering program and am not too sure where I'll be living when I'm done. I've been thinking about Ottawa or Mississauga - I've been hearing they have a strong IT industry. British Columbia is another option too, I've always wanted to go back there. But the bottom line is I'll go where the money is, so if someone is paying well in McMurdo Station in Antarctica, guess who'se dressing really warm?

Hopefully I'll have more time coming up to redesign the site. I really want a better looking comment box.

Laptop Monitor Glitch Solved.

It turned out to be a hardware malfunction as I expected; nothing to do with conflicting software, drivers or settings. Just a loose cable. I'd love to have been able to rip the laptop apart and fix it but when something's under warranty the smartest thing to do is pretty obvious.

The new laptop works perfect as it should.

Laptop Monitor Glitch.

Here's something odd that probably doesn't happen often. There's this laptop that occasionally glitches up. Take a look at the screenshots. I'm trying a few things to troubleshoot. Disabling Windows Aero didn't have any effect, and neither did updating to the latest ATI Radeon HD graphics card drivers. I've rebooted and made sure the resolution was set to its native mode and the colour scheme to 32-bit.

The strange part is that when I use the print screen function on the laptop to take screenshot, and then fire the pic over the network to a different computer to view it, everything looks normal, just like in the bottom two pics. So what I had to do is take one laptop and use its webcam to take a screenshot of the second laptop.

To be continued...

Seagate GoFlex 2TB HD: "AutoPlay" Pop-Up Every 20 Minutes.

There's a Seagate GoFlex Desk 2TB External USB hard drive that's being put to good use! A lot of the movies and CDs purchased over the years are now backed up in case anything disasterous should occur. I noticed a problem that happens every 20 minutes or so when it was plugged into one of the laptops - AutoPlay would constantly pop up saying it had detected a new piece of hardware.

Shortly after I was just about to type that I had found a solution when I heard the noise yet again so it looks like I might be hitting up some forums after all! I'll post any solutions I find should anyone else be experiencing this problem. In the meantime, try these two fixes:

Go to Power Options in the Control Panel and disable the USB Selective Suspend Setting. This will stop the external hard drive from going to sleep. The other solution is also in Power Options. Prevent the disk drives from turning off. It's looking so far like this is a bug in Seagate's software, but I still think there's a workaround for this that can be found. I'll post my findings if something comes up.

Designing Math 2 Life.

I've been so busy with work and designing websites for people that I've left little time for my own! So this is just a quick, fashionably late update to keep everyone posted that I have not perished, and, sometime in the near future, shall return! In the meantime, visit my work in progress for a client site called Math 2 Life.

Selling Shirts

I'm looking around for pricing on equipment and suppliers. It's such a huge undertaking and cost. So many different models to choose from, so many technical details to compare - so much work! The equipment I'm interested in is either a 20 x 25" heat press - big enough to accomodate just about any t-shirt or sweater design I need - or a silk screen kit. It'd be awesome to get shirt prices down to $14.99 but all the details need to be ironed out first.

Wacom Intuos3 Digital USB Tablet

I have been drawing full-colour digital art with Wacom's Intuos3 USB Digital Tablet since the Summer of 2006 so I think it's only fair that I show everybody what it looks like. I'd recommend this tablet to anybody who draws on a regular basis, even if it's not making them any money. I can't even begin to explain how many different levels of awesomeness it will help you bring your art to. And it saves you a great deal of time in the process. I've also recommended this product to three friends and they all own them now and think they're great!

Here's another totally awesome digital artist called Obsidian Signum who uses the 9x12" Wacom tablet I recommended. This thing is epically huge! It would eat mine for lunch!

Killer Pizza

So many people out there are too lazy to cook their own meals at home. Their fridges decreped; a dismal barren wasteland. They pick up the phone and order pizza. They scoff. They wait impatiently. They scoff again. The delivery driver arrives and rings the doorbell. They scoff yet again. The driver's late. The pizza's so expensive. They curse to the stars above, wondering if anything in this lonely universe will ever be just. They curse and rant, completely oblivious to the horrendous truth that there is a godless, savage, horrific evilness and impending doom that lurks inside the box...

I'll be improving the content of this section with images and maybe even videos soon.

Overkill Pizza!

Anyone who'se known for longer than five minutes is well aware that I'm a pizzaholic. Once a friend and I had a pizza competition. Here is Rob Beaudry's Overkill Pizza which made us all constipated for 16 years:

I have made over 100 homemade pizzas like Cajun Chicken on Whole Wheat Honeydough and Death by Cheese. Some really crazy ingredients have gone into the dough as well like vanilla extract (which makes an awesome crispy vanilla crust) and Molson Canadian beer. But now it's time to show you something a little different. Something I've ordered, not made! Check it out:
Triple pepperoni. Triple cheese. Double steak. Double bacon strips. Double bacon crumble. It had so much grease floating on it that I was offended they didn't deliver our pizza with a complimentary ShamWow so I picked up the phone and called the Department of Defence.
